Training with Genres Pluriels: Transgender and Intersex Identities

20210217

(Past event)

17.02 from 10 am to 1 pm at the BELvue Museum

(only in French)

Within the framework of the Open Museum trainings for professionals in the museum sector, several museums have contacted our association with questions concerning the situation of transgender and intersex people who visit them.

Why is this important? According to Amnesty International, the proportion of people who identify as transgender is estimated to be between 1% and 3% of the adult population. For intersex people, the estimate is 1.7% of the population. For comparison, according to WHO estimates in Belgium, the proportion of blind people is 0.1% and 1% for visually impaired people. However, the attention paid to this type of public is still not equal.

On this occasion, Genres pluriels asbl will train you on the issues related to transidentity, gender fluidity and intersex. Do you have questions about communication with these communities, discrimination and the existing legal framework, whether in the field of reception or human resources.
