Lipanda Rumba, 02/07/22 at the AfricaMuseum
“Lipanda Rumba is a major cultural event with the screening of the film The Rumba Kings, concerts and an initiation to dance.
In this period of celebrations of the 62nd anniversary of the independence of the Congo, CEC, Change asbl and the AfricaMuseum propose to put the Congolese Rumba under the spotlight and bring together both witnesses of the independence period, artists inspired by Rumba, young and old, from Belgium and the DRC.
An opportunity to discover the history of the independence of the Congo through Rumba and its role on the international scene, but also to raise awareness and celebrate Rumba, recently listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. This event is also a starting point to (re-)energize a work of transmission and intergenerational exchanges, both here with young people in the diaspora and with young people in Congo.”
