Practical tips for accessibility: an Open Museum Handbook

17.09.2025

You ask, we deliver:

In 2023, Open Museum created a handbook for museum staff on welcoming and supporting people with disabilities in museums, in partnership with Access-i. The handbook covers different types of disabilities and includes concrete and practical tips on how to welcome these publics. It was originally created for Museum Night Fever and is currently still being handed out to all our volunteers.

By popular demand, we are republishing the tool for you to share with your team and create a shared foundation of knowledge on accessibility for all your colleagues.

Take your time to go through this guide and to learn some practical tools you and your team can use for making your museum more accessible.
If you want to go even further, Open Museum also organizes year-round tailored trainings with experts on making museums inclusive.
