Open call for experts

Open Call for Diversity & Inclusivity Experts @Open Museum

20240808

We are looking for experts in diversity and inclusion to enrich the Open Museum training offer.

With the Open Museum project, we aim to raise structural awareness of the importance of inclusion and participation of under-represented groups in the 125+ museums in the Brussels Museums network. We focus on museum teams, public outreach and the programming and presentation of collections.

Open Museum aims to make museums safe places where everyone feels welcome, regardless of gender, skin colour, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, education or age.

To give you an idea, this season we have organised a training course for public mediators on participatory approaches, one on cognitive biases and microaggressions for reception and security teams, and one on ‘care’ for exhibition services.

The project is being carried out in collaboration with a number of local associations active in the social cohesion sector. And we need your help! We are looking for new partners to provide training for museum staff.

Are you an association or an expert? Are you based in Brussels? Do you offer training courses or practical workshops on the themes of diversity and inclusion? You speak French and/or Dutch ? And do you want to share your expertise and make museums more aware of the specific needs of your audiences? We’d love to meet you!

Interested?

Send an email to Julie, who is in charge of the project, describing your non-profit organisation and your training proposal. We will then arrange a meeting to discuss the project in more detail.

We look forward to receiving your application so that together we can build the Open Museum 2025 training programme!
